Quick Help for Simple Search

  • You may start by using the filters to the left
  • You may start by using the search box at the top
  • You may combine the two approaches – in any order

Filters

  • Open a filter and you get a statistical overview of the entire database - or the subset you may have specified by searching and filtering
  • Open a filter, select one or more filter options and click APPLY
  • You may reopen a filter to modify your selections
  • Every time a search is made, the hit counts of all the filters are updated
  • Every time a filter is applied, the hit counts of all the other filters are updated

Search box

  • Simply type one or more words in the box and click SEARCH
  • To search an exact phrase, use quotation marks – E.g. type "water pollution"

SEARCH BOXES

Type one or more words or numbers and click Search
  • The system assumes AND between the words you type
  • If you want OR instead - Type OR
  • If you want to search an exact phrase - Type "water pollution"
  • The system uses word stemming, so typing pollut will find pollution, pollutants etc.
  • If you want to include even more word endings - Type pollut*
  • If you want to search in a specific field, use the drop-down
  • The system does not distinguish between upper- and lowercase
  • When you change something, click Search to update the search
Use more lines to sophisticate search
  • Choose whether the line should be connected to the previous by
    • AND - this narrows down your search by adding more conditions
    • OR - this widens your search by adding alternative conditions
    • NOT - this narrows your search by excluding what you have typed

FILTERS

Use filters for easy searching - and to get an overview of a search result
  • General filters are available for all data types
  • Other filters are only available for the selected data type
  • Some filters have groupings that you may unfold - or activate at group level
  • You may choose to select and activate a single value from a filter, or you may select more values in the same filter to build a group with OR between the values
  • You may revisit a filter to modify your selections

QUERY BOX

Enter your query in the search box and click Search
  • Field code and = sign must be written in front of search words, and parentheses must be written around the search word(s). e.g. ALL=(migration). See list of field codes for searching to the right of the help text. You can apply the same field code to multiple words by putting them within the same parentheses. e.g. ALL=(arctic ice)
  • Multiple search statements must be connected with the Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT. They must be written in uppercase. e.g. ALL=("climate change") AND ABS=(arctic). When searching with the same field code for multiple words connected by OR, you can save space by writing all the search words within one parenthesis. e.g. ALL=(water OR ocean)
  • Multiple field codes can be searched in the same query. e.g. ALL=(bird*) AND ABS=(egg*)
  • When a query contains more than one of the three Boolean operators, use additional parentheses to control the order of execution. e.g. (DAF=("aarhus university") NOT GAF=("lund university")) AND (ALL=("climate change"))
  • If you want to search an exact phrase - Type field code=("water pollution")
  • If you want to include even more word endings - type field code=(pollut*)
  • Search words are not distinguished between upper- and lowercase
  • When you change something, click Search to update the search

Feedback to the developers

X
We do appreciate feedback as it may help us improve the system. Please send it by mail to nora.feedback@dtu.dk. Please include one or more screenshots so we may understand the context of the issue you're bringing up. Also it would be very helpful, if you save the query and paste the resulting short URL in the mail body.
Thank you, the NORA team

Danish Affiliations

X
The NORA names (in standard form) of the Danish affiliated organizations of the contributors. Available categories are: Universities, University Colleges, Hospitals, Specialized Research, Private Research, and Other Research.
Note: Beta-release of the database builds on data from institutional research databases of the eight Danish Universities. For this reason, research from all other Danish organizations is not fully representative in the current release. These other Danish organizations will only appear in the Danish Affiliation filter, if they are registered as collaborators on publications from either of the eight Danish Universities.
Furthermore, the beta-release includes duplicate records, meaning that a publication co-authored by authors affiliated with three universities will appear three times in the filter, if all three universities have registered the publication in their institutional research database. Hence, the total and individual numbers of the Danish Affiliations do not reflect the actual number of publications. If you want to see the actual number of publications of e.g. University of Copenhagen without duplicates the "Danish Data Providers" filter is more suitable

Matching Records in

X
Matching records in one or more of the other three databases. That is, finding records that are represented in both the currently open database and the other three databases.

In OAI

X
Inclusion in the scope of the Danish Open Access Indicator, a national indicator measured annually with up to a two year delay. The scope is peer-reviewed, scientific publications registered in the institutional research databases of the eight Danish Universities, and published in conference proceedings or journals with ISSN for any given submission year from 2013 and onwards. See more in the documentation vailable on the Danish Open Access Indicator webpage.

Danish Data Providers

X
The NORA names (in standard form) of the Danish organizations that have provided their data to Research Portal Denmark. Available categories correspond to the eight Danish Universities.
Note: As data from institutional research databases of other Danish organizations gets integrated, new categories corresponding to each institutional data provider will be added. See a complete list of local, institutional sources on the welcome page under Data partner tab.
Choosing an organization from "Danish Data Providers" will give you all the publications registered by the chosen organization without duplicate records.
